The fruit has a perfect jelly-like consistency, sweet and spicy favor, and are probably one of the most often sold astringent persimmons in the market place. Beautiful trees in the dormant season, as the large deep red fruit will hang on trees throughout winter. Fruit ripens mid October through late November, Zones 7-9.

TAM-O-PAN PERSIMMON, is golden color sometimes redish, tender, juicy persimmon. Fruit is very large with an acorn shape and thick skin; can be eaten with a spoon from the half shell like an avocado. Tamopan flesh is very sweet and of the astringent type (should be eaten when soft to the touch) and is excellent for cooking and baking. Self-fertile.

Astringent when first picked, the cone-shaped variety boasts attractive yellow to red-orange skin and nearly seedless, yellow-orange flesh. Once fully ripened on or off the tree, the soft pulp-like flesh has a sweet, rich flavor. The top variety for drying in its country of origin, Japan. Heat-tolerant. Ripens in September or October. Grafted. Self-pollinating.
